Julie Garwood, legend of romance, died on June 8, 2023, on the age of 78.
debuted in 1985 with Type Warrior, Garwood was a prolific creator over three many years, with books in subgenres starting from medieval to regency to modern thrillers. AAR awarded him 15 DIK, largely for his historic novels. Our readers like it too. Garwood has appeared in each AAR Prime 100 ballot, with The bride, Honor to splendour, Ransom, The keyAnd saving grace specifically making a number of appearances over the many years. In 2004 it had seven titles listed, and in 2000 it had eight – one in every of our greatest single-writer reveals.
Garwood has been interviewed twice at AAR, in 1998 and 2007. In these interviews, she recounts how she began writing a historic romance with out really studying it – which can clarify why her tales, so refreshing to many readers , have prevented many darkish tropes of the “bodice ripper” period. Though they usually deal with critical points, Garwood’s books have been deliberately enjoyable escapisms, largely as a result of Garwood listened to followers who instructed him that was what they cherished.
Her voice and elegance had an enduring impact on the style and on the many individuals who learn and cherished her. Julie Garwood might be missed.
His obituary is HERE.
I’m a historical past buff and educator, and have lived in 5 completely different international locations in North America, Asia, and Europe. Apart from the standard subgenres, I’ve a gentle spot for YA, Sci-fi/Fantasy and graphic novels. I like cooking.
